Almost every owner of a cat or a dog is confronted with problems of skin and hair of his pet. Neighbors, relatives and friends came to visit you, sitting in the dark pants (skirt) on the sofa, where just laid a nice kitty - and underlining layer of cat’s hair is adorned their clothing.

Dry skin, itching, hair loss and cat dandruff are often found on cats. Some of the famous slogans commercials completely relevant to our four-legged friends: «Your hair needs special care», «Fatty roots - Dry ends? », etc.

Many people believe that the keeping a cat or a dog in the house – it’s a lot of hair in all accessible and inaccessible places. The Doctors from Veterinary Clinics have a different opinion. If your cat loves being bathed then a good idea is to give shampoo bath every couple of months. Do not use human shampoos as they may further dry up the skin and aggravate the conditions. So always use a cat shampoo and make sure that the shampoo remains are washed off completely to avoid any worsening of the dandruff.

The second reason that cats develop dandruff is the climate. Most cats develop dandruff during winter because of the cold and dry weather. Moreover cats just laze around in warm places like sofas and fireplace which increases the dryness of the skin and cause dandruff. So make the cat move away from her cozy places and make it run around for a while. Using a humidifier in the room is a good idea for the cat and also for yourselves to avoid dry skin during winter season The third reason is the diet.

Cats don’t like to drink water as such even when they are thirsty. Even if you have provided water in the room they may not be drinking it. The only way to meet the cats water requirement is through the water content of the food they take. Most of the canned food does not contain enough moisture content thus creating dry skin and flakes. Changing the canned food and adding some fish oil to the diet will help to reduce the dandruff.

Dandruff is literally dead skin caused in cats by an adverse reaction to fleas, sunburn, dry air, diet, or your pretty new carpet. An easy home cure for your dry air (and resulting cat dandruff) is investing in a humidifier. Another natural solution is simply keeping tabs on your kitty’s sun exposure. Completely switching your cat over to only natural, top-quality canned eats could have a noticeable effect on the dandruff battle as well. You could also try a cat multi-vitamin. If you’ve spotted bug bites on your kitty, a shampoo of baking soda can be used to lessen dandruff caused by nibbles.

Mouthwash like Listerine is a surprising source that can also be used. Once-a-month washings with an appropriate shampoo can keep pet dandruff at bay overall. A possibly overlooked contributor to your cat’s dandruff is their grooming skills. If your cat is overweight or has hard-to-reach areas, their grooming may not be the best and is therefore causing dandruff. You can help them out with a good-quality brush on occasion. The age and wright of your cat can cause him/her to have dandruff. If your cat is older they might not have the range of motion to reach certain parts of their body while grooming. While there is not much you can do to fix the age of your cat besides trying a new diet to help with joint movement, there is something you can do about your cat’s weight. A less fatty food can be fed to your cat or he/she can be fed less frequently. These things may decrease your cat’s weight, allow them greater range of motion and therefore when grooming is occurring your cat can reach their entire body lessening their dandruff.

Dry skin in cats can be caused by a few things. If it is winter it is likely that your cat has seasonal dry skin, caused by the dry air, just as you may have. This can be solved by getting a dehumidifier or trying to keep your cat away from your heating vents as this can cause dry skin. If your cat does not drink a lot of water then it is possible that he/she has dry skin from lack of water. This can be fixed by giving your cat wet food from which their body will absorb the liquid. A diet with food rich in omega -3, a.k.a. fish oil, can also be used to combat cat dandruff. And always remember that a good brushing can always help to sweep the oils throughout the fur of your pet. Pet dander is something that can be quite annoying while trying to clean or keep a tidy house. There are however, remedies and for your cat’s sake, and yours it is vital that you try to stop the dandruff.
